Critical Reading Made Easy: Practical Appraisal

This session focuses on appraising a randomised controlled trial, a systematic review and an observational study. The papers selected change for each session so you are able to come more than once to hone your skills. Suitable for: All staff needing to read and understand research; especially junior doctors preparing for examinations, Trust grade doctors, staff embarking on research projects, those wanting to launch and run journal clubs.

By the end of this session you will be able to: (1) Appraise a systematic review (2) Appraise an observational study (3) Appraise a randomised controlled trial Both with and without checklists for appraisal.
