Do you sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed when the healthcare professionals around you use all that complicated language? This workshop aims to help you to become more confident at using and understanding medical terms. You will learn about the origin and purpose of medical terminology; how to recognise the individual components of words; the terms used for different anatomical structures, functions, and systems; and common abbreviations used in healthcare.

Recognise the typical structure of medical terminology. Identify common prefixes, stems/roots and suffixes for procedures/conditions. Use correct terminology for body positions/anatomical planes. Describe the differences between British and American spellings. Recognise plural endings.
