09/06/26
University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) Libraries & Information Services
Glenfield Hospital Library
1:00pm - 3:30pm
All UHL and LPT staff and students who want to have an understanding of some of the basic principles of statistics and data handling. We will look at the different types of data that exist some tools for describing the location (average) and spread (variability) of data. Then we will look at how we could make inference from sample data, about the population as a whole and how to do hypothesis testing. Finally we will look at other factors that determine which statistical tests are best used in which circumstances.
By the end of this session you should be able to: (1) describe what different types of data there are (2) understand the difference between describing and analysing data, and (3) explain some methods to do both (4) decide which statistical test should be used in which circumstances
